Breezy Ridge® Instruments, Ltd. is proud to introduce the
Colby Tailpiece for 5 String Banjo.

Early in the 20th Century
New Jersey Classical Banjo Player & Builder
FRED VAN EPS [1879 - 1960]
designed several tailpieces for his banjo and for those he later produced.

PETER COLBY [1937? - 1988]
was a trained gunsmith and
Banjo & Autoharp Player and Builder in the Boston/NewEngland Area.
He modified the Van Eps design for his personal 5 String Banjo.
By 1970 he made at least one other for Mary Faith
which has been faithfully reproduced here
for Breezy Ridge® by Pennsylvania Craftsmen.
The perfect combination of Beauty & Functionality,
the Colby presses the strings down toward the banjo head
while stretching them almost to the width of the bridge.
It creates a greater angle of the strings against the bridge
for better sound and stability.

An idea whose time has come...
again!
