It's not that the idea of adding a string to a guitar to try to have the 12 string effect is a new idea. It's just that people who used to create that effect did so to the detriment of the instrument. Usually a hole was drilled in the peg head for the extra tuner which was usually of the straight-through banjo type. And then, of course, there was the problem with the ball end of the string and where to put it.
Our friend ANDY ROBERTS tried it as early as the mid sixties, ultimately having the instrument stolen. Our friend Roger McGuinnis famous for his 12 string sound and his signature Martin Guitar has seven strings built in.
The Good Folks from Adventor in Holland have made all of the trouble obsolete. They worked out a way to add the string to the guitar literally without any adaptation of the instrument. The worked out all the problems and came up with a product which is perfect for the job.
As you take a look below, you'll see that they figured out the tuner and the attachment to the bridge, and the only adaptation to the guitar is a slight notch through the nut to hold the string in its proper place.
The Soundhole attachment has a button, giving you the option of playing all seven strings, or allowing you to "remove" one of the doubled strings to play only six:: either as a standard six string guitar by lowering the new octave string or by lowering the wound string and having a "high-strung" effect.
When people have lots of guitars, it is nice to be able to have one strung up this way.
But most people don't have lots of guitars...and this is the product for them. Now you don't need two or three guitars to have the possibile sounds that the AddString can give you on one.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words...well, look below and see one of the nicest inventions to come along for guitars in a long time!
We find that this product will work best on newer guitars with a simpler headstock so that there is no problem attaching the tuner.
